I need a good teacher. Today I tried to gesso two boards. It was rough going. I found it very thick and streaky. I went on Youtube for help and found that some people use a damp sponge to apply. This worked better. There are two coats now. I will do two more tomorrow.

    Hi Christine.
    Um, did you try diluting the gesso with some water? That usually does the trick. Don't you just hate all the prep work before you can get to the painting part? I know I do.

    I went on Youtube and learned about thinning with water. That did help. This is the drawback of being self taught. I have to learn as I go but I love painting so much that it doesn't bother me to stumble through a little. It is just part of getting there!
